Bankruptcy & Insolvency

We provide comprehensive legal counsel and representation to financially troubled businesses and individuals, and to secured and unsecured creditors, in all judicial and non-judicial insolvency-related matters.  In particular, we provide client services administrative and adversarial proceedings under Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code; debt collection and restructuring; receiverships; foreclosures; and credit recovery.

Our representation of individual and institutional lenders, borrowers and guarantors over the years has given us valuable insight into the needs on all sides of the table during these frequently complicated, protracted negotiations. We have effectively represented clients in some of Connecticut’s most complex bankruptcies, and have counseled creditors and debtors in:

  • Loan workouts and foreclosures;

  • Individual, corporate and institutional bankruptcy proceedings;

  • Acquisition of assets, commercial paper and related financing instruments;

  • Disputes with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and other federal banking agencies.

Our location near the federal courthouse in Bridgeport provides a distinct advantage when we are involved in matters assigned to the bankruptcy court here.

Our practice also takes us regularly to the bankruptcy courts in New Haven and Hartford.
