Jack Zeldes is the senior founding member of the firm and focuses on civil and criminal litigation in both state and federal courts.  In addition to representing hundreds of clients in private litigation, Mr. Zeldes has been involved in matters of public importance.  In 1983, the Connecticut House of Representatives retained him to represent the Select Committee to Consider Impeachment in the first impeachment proceeding ever initiated against a Connecticut judge, and he has frequently represented public officials in matters of public interest.  He has been listed in Best Lawyers In America in one or more categories in every edition of the publication and was recently included in the top 50 of Connecticut Super Lawyers chosen by the Connecticut Law & Politics Magazine.

Mr. Zeldes is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation and a member of the ABA Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the Connecticut Bar Association Lawyer-to-Lawyer Dispute Resolution Committee, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.  Previously, he served as Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Federal Practice Committee and the Section on the Administration of Criminal Justice.  He has been an active participant as lecturer in many professional forums during his career.

Mr. Zeldes has successfully argued on behalf of clients in the United States Supreme Court in two cases.  One established that violators of the federal wagering tax laws could not constitutionally be prosecuted, and the other invalidated the Connecticut standard for the admissibility of confessions in criminal cases.
